A team of enthusiastic faculty, staff, and students from The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham joined together on October 22, 2009, in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2009 Light The Night Walk in Durham, NC.
The event was held right outside The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham's front doors at the American Tobacco Campus. Led by team captain Alecia Glover, the team surpassed its original goal of $2,500 by raising over $3,200 to help in fighting leukemia.
The school also used the event as an opportunity to showcase student artwork by holding a contest for a team t-shirt design. Faculty, staff, and students voted on five student designs through a monetary donation to LLS. The winning design was created by Graphic Design student Latasha Anderson and was proudly worn by the team at the Light The Night event.
