The Art Institute of Raleigh – Durham Honored with Durham Business Excellence Award

(Raleigh, N.C. — Oct. 2009) After celebrating its first year in the Durham community, The Art Institute of Raleigh – Durham was recently honored with the Durham Business Excellence Award, presented by the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes businesses for programs or initiatives that impact the community, making Durham stronger. We are extremely honored to receive this award,” said Mike DePrisco, president of The Art Institute of Raleigh – Durham.

“We’re proud to be a part of the Durham community and I can’t think of a better way to end our first year. We appreciate all the support we’ve received in the Triangle and we’re tremendously excited about the future.”

Thanks in part to the relationships it has built with local schools, community groups and surrounding businesses, The Art Institute of Raleigh – Durham has experienced tremendous growth and established a firm identity locally.  It encourages students to be part of the community, too; the school provides training for students who are already working part-time and interning in the area, and each program requires at least one local 100-hour internship.
 
In its first year, The Art Institute of Raleigh – Durham exceeded its initial enrollment goals by 50 percent and increased its faculty from 20 to 55. The school has also successfully collaborated with the local business community and supported local nonprofits and organizations.

The Art Institute of Raleigh – Durham offers bachelor’s degree programs in culinary arts management, fashion marketing & management, graphic design, interior design and Web design  & interactive media. Associate’s degree programs are offered in culinary arts, fashion marketing, graphic design and Web design  & interactive media.
